People use different senses to shape a story or express a feeling. So now we often see the art of literature, image and sound interacting.
I think the famous paintings have some features achieving emotional resonate with people around the world which we can summarize and use in our visual expression. Whether it’s the influence of legendary painters on filmmakers, or a single painting helping a writer tell their story, there are countless examples of filmmakers finding inspiration in other works.
And now you can see how paintings come to life in film and how I get inspiration from the paintings by Edward Hopper and Johannes Vermeer.
(research)Hopper’s cinematic compositions and dramatic use of light and dark has made him a favorite among filmmakers. For example, House by the Railroad is reported to have heavily influenced the iconic house in the Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho.^[108] The same painting has also been cited as being an influence on the home in the Terrence Malick film Days of Heaven. The 1981 film Pennies from Heaven includes a tableau vivant of Nighthawks, with the lead actors in the places of the diners. German director Wim Wenders also cites Hopper influence.^[70] His 1997 film The End of Violence also incorporates a tableau vivant of Nighthawks, recreated by actors. Noted surrealist horror film director Dario Argento went so far as to recreate the diner and the patrons in Nighthawks as part of a set for his 1976 film Deep Red (aka Profondo Rosso). Ridley Scott has cited the same painting as a visual inspiration for Blade Runner. To establish the lighting of scenes in the 2002 film Road to Perdition, director Sam Mendes drew from the paintings of Hopper as a source of inspiration, particularly New York Movie.^[109]

I heard the tragic news of Kobe and GiGi. Heart break.

See the Kobe Doin’ Work again. And I want to talk about the sports film. Though director Spike Lee used 30 cameras to show a exicting basketball game that you can’t experience on TV Live , but in my opinion , his mentalityis really more exciting than a game. It is the carrier of sports culture and the concentration of sports life.
Perhaps we don’t need any grand scenes or wonderful visual impacts. We just need to return to the origin, talk about people, and start from the most ordinary place to tell a human story full of sincere emotions. Sports movies want to touch the hearts of the audience, it depends on whether they can find emotional resonance and deeply embody humanity.
