# Exercise 01 STUDIO# Light

After the light lesson(Eric work shop), I learned that use high bounce to reflect the 4Klight to make more soft light, not only use light+flag to make it soft. And using poly borad to bounce light to make the background’s detail more clearly. What’s more, using sprary is also a good way to reduce the reflection(kino fill). We shot in studio by using these knowledge.

# Exercise 01 STUDIO# If I worked as Director

Our script is about a couple in anniversary. One is waiting for her husband, but her husband is late and doesn’t answer his wife’s call.

And this five shots show the wife’s statement when she waits her husband, her angry grandly broke out.

In the original video shot by stable shot, but in my opinion, hand hold perhaps more butter. Because the wife in strong emotion and become to be drunk, hand hold shot can express the statement of wife is very unstable. Hand hold also can help the action(strong emotion always with interesting body language )more vivid. Further more, the drunk statement also suitable to be shot by hand hold.

Secondly, I think our script has two emotion wants to be expressed, the one is angry and the another is loneliness. Thus in my opinion, “the loneliness shot “should be designed different from the other shots.

Depressed, loneliness, and a little bit resentful.

If I composite I want to let the wife sit on the ground and depend on the sofa, her arm on the sofa’s handle . Making the lamp like the only light resource. Cold moonlight on her hair and body(back and one side) warm lamp light only on her face and wine bottle.

# Exercise 01# If I worked was Director

If I worked as director, I want to use handheld and close-up shot to show a sequence shots of flirting in dusk-like Scene.

Handheld camera moves with the character’s action. Concentrating on priest’s facila express, this character is complex, so his expression should include solemn, kind, cunning, and experienced.

what I am very interested in is that the church have large area but cheating(flirt) always begin at the a narrow space. So I want to try shoot flirting in a empty large area, like on the stage, making it verrrry dramatic. Using artificial light to show the ridiculous.

The light in the restaurant changes subtly in this picture.

Actually, the light is very strong. (I always think if the light is soooo strong that you can see every detail, it will be very loneliness. That is why the pub and bedroom use soft and weak light to make a warm atmosphere I think.   )
And then, the big area Monotonous color  eats the  Reverie space. Because it is too simple.

HUE/SATURATION/BRIGHTNESS Johannes Vermeer

What I get in vermeer's painting is about using light to composite. I always just use the whole characters and scenery and items to composite but now I find I can use light to cut the whole characters or scenery to shape what I want.(1-1)=> (1-2)
The characters and scenery are bathed in the extremely pure side light.
The regular triangle, inverted triangle and "X" shape composition, the entire picture forms a rigorous and harmonious balance.
